Each Team of The New Baseball Game has 7 players. A pitcher, catcher, right infielder, left infielder, right outfielder, left outfielder, and the rover.

The rover can play anywhere on the field as long as they play deeper then the infielders and are not interfering with base runners or the person at bat.
| |
1.02
Each player is expected to play offense and defense. The New Baseball Game does not allow a DH (designated hitter). Example: the pitcher's DH as in the American League of MLB.

The field...From home plate to left and right base should measure 90 feet...but from left to center base the distance is 70 feet (this is also true for the distance from center to right base).

2.01
A runner on base must keep one foot on the base until the ball is released by the pitcher. The runner may attempt to steal a base but must not leave the base until the ball is released.

Rule 2.01 eliminates pitchers holding runners on base. It also eliminates the balk.

The first batter of every at bat that gets on base determines the direction their team will run the bases for that half inning. The direction is only decided once the first player has made it on base. After the first player decides the direction (right or left only) all batters must follow that direction for the rest of the at bat.

Additional outs carry over to the next at bat. If a team has two outs and hits into a double play, the extra out carries over to their next at bat. So the team hitting into the double play will only have two outs for their next at bat. In this case, the inning ends at the conclusion of the play, not with the third out. For example, on a double play situation with two outs, the inning wouldn't end until the batter reaches first or is put out at first, instead of when the third out is recorded. Only two outs can be carried over.

Rule 4.00 holds true also for a triple play. In this case the team hitting into the triple play would only have one out for their next at bat. Two outs would carry over.

Depending on how many outs a team has for their at bat, the manager may rotate the order of the teams lineup for that half inning. Example the team has a full three outs and players A, B, and C are on deck. They may bat in six different orders (A,B,C or B,C,A or C,A,B or B,A,C, or A,C,B or C,B,A).
The current at bat swap does not change overall game batting order it is only a temporary adjustment.
| |
4.03
With rule 4.02 it follows that if a team has only two outs for their at bat and batters A and B are on deck then the manager can only rotate the order A to B or B to A.

An intentional walk can be given by the pitcher by simply having pitcher point at the batter and by telling the umpire you are intentionally walking the the batter. No pitches need to be thrown. However this can also occur at anytime in the at bat.

8.01
A batter is given an extra base for each additional intentionally walk they receive in a game.
Example: If it is the batters second intentional walk of the game then not only do they get on base but they advance one base.
